May 18, 2011, Cologne, MN – Cologne Academy announced today a 2011 MN Department of Education (MDE) finance award recognizing Cologne Academy as having met statutory deadlines for submission of audits and Uniform Accounting and Reporting Standards (UFARS) data, as well as meeting fiscal, policy and personnel training criteria established under law and the Department.

As a recipient of this annual award, Cologne Academy joins 61 other charter schools to represent 40% of all Minnesota charter schools as having demonstrated to the public that charter schools are meeting statutory requirements and maintaining good financial management practices.  Only 19% of Minnesota’s traditional public school districts received an award this year. 

“We are very proud of the accomplishments that we have achieved at Cologne Academy both academic and fiscally,” explains Executive Director Lynn Gluck Peterson.  “It is great to have recognition from the state and others highlighting our hard work, discipline, and successful results.  Our hats go off to all recipients of the award across the state.  It is an honor that we will work hard to earn every year.”

The Minnesota Association of Charter Schools (MACS) is honoring the charter school award recipients by sending letters to government leaders highlighting each awarded school.  In addition, MACS is recognizing each awarded member in the The Charter Current newsletter.
