“I’ll Care”

About Mrs. Isles

I was born and raised near Cologne – in Jordan, MN.  I come from a family of five – my dad, Mike, played cornet, clarinet, and tuba; my mom, Lori, played the clarinet; my brother, Josh, played the tuba; and my sister, Rachel, was a saxophone player.

I was, myself, a trumpet and french horn player throughout my schooling.  I am also a guitar player, and students may occasionally see me roaming the halls with Desi, my acoustic guitar, slung across my shoulder.

I attended Minnesota State University – Mankato for college, where I received my bachelor’s degree in instrumental and classroom music education.  I graduated from college in 2009.

This is my fourth year at Cologne Academy, and I love it more every day.  This is the third school I’ve worked at since I’ve earned my degree, and I can say with complete confidence that CA is the best school by far!  We have great students, a supportive and caring community of parents and families, and staff that lives and breathes education!

In my free time, I am a very involved member of local theatre groups.  I helped to start CA’s middle school theatre club, which puts on two shows every year.  I also volunteer with Norwood Young America’s high school theatre program, and I work in the summer with the Centre Stage Community Theatre  group based in Norwood.  If you need help finding or building props or costumes, I’m your girl!

I also love to cook, and consider myself an amateur chef (as long as I don’t burn the meal instead!).  I also love to discover new music, movies and television.  If you have a recommendation, I’d love to hear about it!  I enjoy reading, slowly but surely teaching myself sign language, and doing craft things around my house.  Ask my about my perler bead collection!

I live in Belle Plaine with my husband, Brian, who is a high school English teacher in Norwood, and our two orange cats, Remy, and Zissou.  I may live in Tiger country, but I bleed navy and gold!  Go PRIDE Stars!

I love to laugh!  Tell me a joke next time you see me!

I look forward to getting to know our CA families and students!
