Laura Oman, 3rd Grade

This Week in Class…May 14-18

The spelling words in third grade MUR this week have silent consonants or prefixes. The grammar concepts to be quizzed on Friday are compound subjects and predicates, comparative and superlative, and verb tenses.

We finished up the stories last week and they are great! All should be graded and handed back by Wednesday. This week are starting another two week project on “How To”. Students will write a paper explaining “how to” do something this week. The following week students will turn it into a presentation/speech and actually demonstrate the task in class.

We are back to science in my room this week! We are doing a week long review of the scientific method. Students will be creating, carrying out and presenting a mini experiment this week.

My MUM class has the MCAs on Tuesday and Wednesday this week so there is not any MUM homework for MY MUM class. This may vary by teacher.

Upcoming Dates and Events

I would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all who helped me and the other CA teachers feel so special last week! From the door, to the notes and gifts, the food, and the meal provided to my family-it was all EXCELLENT!!!

Presentations Next Week

Students may need to bring materials from home to school in order to give their “How To” demonstration speech. A few students have already selected topics such as “How To build a _____ with Legos.” They may bring Legos in on the day of their presentation. I will hang on to the items before and after the presentations.
