1st Grade Weekly News

Dear First Grade Families,

Language Arts: This week in language arts we wrapped our final reading unit, “Home, Sweet Home!” We read and discussed the story The White House; we also read the poem Snail’s Pace where we worked with visualizing. In phonics this week we concentrated on Future Tense Verbs and consonant diagraphs.
Math: In math this week we reviewing all materials that we covered all year. We worked with money, time, graphing, fractions, patterns, shapes, multiplication, division, adding and subtracting. As you saw yesterday we had a lot of fun as we has some crazy chocolate pudding math review
Next week we will be taking our fourth and final math interim where we will test on all the materials we learned throughout our first grade school year.
History: In history this week students finished up the Early Exploration of the American West with Mrs.
Bakken. Next week they will begin their final history lesson of the year, where they will learn about Mexico Today.
Core Virtue: The core virtue for the month of May is Wonder! Wonder is to stop and say: “WOW”, to delight in beauty and mystery, the first step on the path of knowledge.
